For folks who are new to incontinence aborbent products such as Adult Nappies, it can be confusing to choose which one is best for their needs. Before we explain the best method for choosing, we want to clear up some very understandable confusion you may have related to the terms the industry uses. The terms used are often interchangeable, meaning different names are used to describe virtually the same product. Adult nappies, adult diapers, and adult briefs are essentially the same thing. Protective Pants and/or Protective Underwear are also terms you may see. These products provide almost the same protection with a slimmer more convenient design. Different countries and even different regions of the same country may use different terms but they are all referring to an undergarment that is designed to give you excellent absorbency and protection.
The best method to follow to find the right adult nappy for you is to start with a medium absorbency product, see how it works, then if you find your volume of leakage is less or more than the models maximum, move down or up to the next model for absorbency. This will allow you to find the one that is the least bulky but provides you with the discreet protection you need. Protective Pants are slightly less absorbent than adult nappies/diapers/briefs, but are slimmer and more like regular underwear. These models are a good place to start. Also, start with a less expensive brand such as Depend at first to see if it meets your needs. There are many models on the market that provide excellent protection, but do cost quite a bit more.
To discover the best size, the descrition of the nappy will include a size from usually x small to xx large. Each of the sizes will include a waist size. Do not purchase one that is much bigger than your waist size, as you do not want it to be too loose and cause leakage.
